Privacy notice
Effective 7 November 2026. Last updated 7 November 2026.
Your privacy is important to us. Ludo is a free, private game for invited family players, run by its owner. In this notice, “we” and “us” mean the owner. This notice explains what personal information we hold about you and how we use it.
Personal information is any information that can be used to identify you, including details about you, your devices and how you use a website.
Information we collect
We collect information you give us, such as your email address and nickname, and some information that your device sends automatically when you use the site.
Log data
When you visit the site, our hosting provider may automatically log standard details sent by your browser. These can include your IP address, browser type and version, the pages you request, and the time and date of your visit. Technical details may also be recorded if an error occurs. We use this only to run and protect the site.
Device data
Your browser sends basic information about your device, such as its type and operating system, when it loads the site. A security service may also use information about your device and how you use the page to check that requests come from this app, and it may set a cookie.
Personal information
| Information | Why we use it | Who can see it | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign-in record: account ID and email address. Your sign-in provider may also share your name and photo, which the game doesn’t use or show | Signing you in | The owner | Until the owner removes it by hand |
| Invited email address | Deciding who can play | Admins | Until you’re removed |
| Nickname | Showing you on the board | Players in games you join | Until you change it or you’re removed |
| Game details: seats, tokens, turns and the nicknames in them | Playing live | Players with the code until a game starts, then only its players. Admins can see every game, because they run the cleanup | Deleted after 30 days with no moves, the next time an admin opens the game |
| List of your games | Letting you return to a game | You and admins | Cleared once the game has been deleted |
We don’t collect analytics, advertising data, location, contacts or chat, and we don’t use your information for marketing.
Signing in without an invitation
Anyone can open this site. If you sign in without an invitation, you can’t play and the game saves nothing about you. A sign-in record with your account ID and email address is still created, and stays until the owner removes it by hand. Please don’t sign in if you don’t want that.
Information kept on your device
Your browser keeps your sign-in, settings and any game played on that device in its own storage. Clearing your browser’s data for this site removes them.
Why we use your information
We only collect and use personal information when we have a legitimate reason, and only what we need to:
- sign you in and check that you’ve been invited
- run games between players
- keep the game secure and working
We don’t use your information for any other purpose.
Legal basis
This is a private game for family. Where data protection law applies, we rely on our legitimate interest in running a private, secure game for the people we’ve invited.
Security
We protect your information against loss, theft and unauthorised access, disclosure or change. Only invited players can use the game, and access to each kind of information is limited as shown above. No method of sending or storing information is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. You’re responsible for keeping the account you sign in with secure.
Who we share information with
We don’t sell your information. We share it only with:
- service providers that host the game, store its data, handle sign-in and provide security checks, so that they can provide those services to us
- other players and admins, as shown in the table above
- authorities, if the law requires it
Where information is stored
Game data is stored in Europe. Our service providers may process other information, including sign-in records, in other countries, which may not have the same data protection laws as the UK. Where information is transferred, we rely on those providers’ safeguards for protecting it.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Access: give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correct: fix information that’s inaccurate or incomplete
- Delete: erase your information, which will end your access to the game
- Restrict or stop: limit how we use your information, or stop using it
- Transfer: give you the information you’ve provided in a format you can move elsewhere
We’ll respond within one month. You don’t have to give us personal information, but you can’t play online without signing in.
If a data breach is likely to affect you, we’ll tell you. If you have a concern about how your information is handled, please tell us and we’ll look into it and reply to you.
Links to other sites
Signing in may take you to your sign-in provider’s own pages. Those pages have their own privacy policies, and this notice doesn’t cover them.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice when the game or the law changes. We’ll post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll let players know.

For any question or request about your information, contact the owner using the details you were invited with.
